Study the teaching materials

General information
In AllRight.io we use a course based on 4 main levels:

  • Charlie Preschool (A0)
  • Charlie Starter (Pre-A1)
  • Charlie Mover (A1)
  • Charlie Flyer (A2)

  • The names of the levels are based on 3 Cambridge Exams for Young Learners (YLE): Starters, Movers, Flyers, as the coursebook which we are using, can be used for preparation to these exams.
  • Each of the levels (Starter, Mover, Flyer) is divided into 2 parts, as 2 levels of the coursebook are used to prepare for this exam. That is why, when you choose the level of the student after finishing a trial lesson, you may see such subdivisions as «Charlie Starter 1» or «Charlie Starter 2» etc.
  • The coursebook which we are using is a Cambridge course called Kids Box. Still, for the parents we do not reveal the name of the coursebook, using Charlie levels to describe the syllabus for the student. This is because using Kids Box for the lessons is not strictly obligatory — a teacher can use additional materials or an alternative course after contacting the methodologist and discussing this.

Teaching materials in the Classroom
Now most levels of the syllabus are available in the form of ready lessons inside the Classroom. All the lessons are based on Kid’s Box course, but adapted for online studies.

If you click on the button “Presentations” in the top right corner of the classroom, you will see the menu with the levels: “Charlie Preschool”, “Charlie Starter 1” etc. Click on the level and then choose a lesson to teach to the student:

All the materials are also available for preview directly from your dashboard in the menu “Materials”:

You can open any lesson full screen and use it for teaching in Skype, if needed.

Electronic coursebooks
In case of technical issues with the website, the teacher will need the original electronic Kid’s Box coursebook for teaching, as the materials of the classroom might not be accessible.
You can download special licensed Presentation Plus software and use it for teaching.
You can also use it if the level you need is still not available in the classroom.
For download, see the table below.

Syllabus and defining the level of the student
AllRight.io follows general European framework levels (A1, A2…)
The coursebook we are using corresponds to it by content.

Charlie Starter 1 Kid’s Box 1 Pre-A1 download Read syllabus

After a trial lesson with a new student, the teacher needs to define the level of the recommended syllabus in the report:

When you define the recommended level in the report, the mother of the student gets the same syllabus description as you can see in the table.

Homework

If the teacher uses ready lessons in the classroom, the system remembers which lesson was used last. The parent gets automatic email with the contents of the class and recommended homework.

The recommended homework consists of small games, repeating the content of the lesson. The teacher can see which exercises are connected to which lesson in the menu “Materials” in the dashboard:

Unfortunately, at the moment the teacher cannot see the progress of the student with the exercises. Still, this homework is only recommended, but not obligatory.

Some mothers prefer to get more proper homework for their children. The teacher can consult the mother after the first paid lesson (dedicate 3-5 min in the end) about the type of the homework they want. Someone prefers only to get cartoons for watching, others want to get screenshots of grammar exercises (see the additional materials in the Library).

You can attach the homework when finishing the lesson.
Click on the lesson in the dashboard and choose “Finish”:

You will see the standard window for finishing the lesson. You can tick whether the lesson went fine or with any tech issues (describe in the comment) and type the homework into the separate section:

You can also attach files for homework.
Formats allowed (size up to 15 Mb):

  • .jpg, .png, .bmp (pictures)
  • .pdf
  • .doc, .xls, .ppt (Miscrosoft Word, Exel, PowerPoint)
  • .mp3 (audio)
