What is the Speaker method?

The Speaker Method is an innovative learning system which name comes from the word "speak" ("to speak" in English). It consists of two main elements:

The communicative approach of CLT (Communicative language teaching)

 involves a large amount of communication between the teacher and the student. In class, the student speaks at least 50% of the time. The emphasis is on the development of communication skills and listening comprehension. The teacher creates stories similar to real-life communication in which the student takes part: going to the store, talking with a new acquaintance, traveling, etc.

During the lesson, live and authentic materials are used: films in the original language, conversational recordings of native speakers, and, of course, the communicative approach is best manifested in communication with teachers from the USA or England. 

TPR (Total Physical Response)

involves all the main channels of perception of the child: auditory, visual, kinesthetic (sensations). For example, when learning verbs, the child does not just look at the cards and repeat: “run”, “jump”, “fly”, but actually runs, jumps and “flies”, pronouncing the words while moving. This is how motor memory is activated and all new words are quickly absorbed.

TPR helps to avoid using the native language in the classroom. In addition, it is fun and develops acting skills! 🙂
